Vaginoplasty is an operation to tighten and reshape the vagina. It is most often done for women whose vaginal muscles and tissues have become loose or stretched after childbirth or with age.

Loose vaginal tissues can cause a feeling of wideness, reduced sensation during sex, or difficulty keeping a tampon in place. In some women this comes together with a weak pelvic floor or a mild prolapse.

During the operation, extra vaginal lining is removed and the muscles underneath are drawn together and stitched to narrow the vagina. The entrance of the vagina and the perineum may be repaired at the same time. The operation is done through the vagina, with no cut on the abdomen.
